Rogue Idea

Well after looking around and learning WAY more than I expected about this whole money online/promoting websites thing (thanks to a whole bunch of googling and talking to John and Ed), I did end up finding a few interesting sites like this web conference place that helps you set up seminars and conferences online. Most of it is like web meetings for companies that need to talk to their people online but they have this little section for web conferencing and seminars at that link. (Actually they don’t call these things ‘seminars’ there, they call them ‘webinars’.)

They seem sort of new but they do have a phone number that they tell you to call so at least that is better than those companies that only do e-mail. And another good thing is that they apparently walk you through all the steps and help you get what is going on instead of just giving you an account with access to a bunch of stuff you might not know about. You might have to read about their different options on their home page but you have to scroll down to see them. It looks like the top of the page is all that’s there but then you go down and there are little descriptions of each thing they do with some explanations. Oh and in that little footer there’s info about a free webinar you can get – the offer is over now but hopefully they’ll do it again for new customers another time.

Anyways, not that I’m going to have a webinar anytime soon, but I thought I’d make a note to myself about it just in case (since I’d never seen anything like this before, I just thought people hired special people to make custom web conference products/programs for them.)

After a long time of going through many alarm clocks I decided that none where better at getting me OUT of my bed than the ones that actually ring bells like there’s no tomorrow. Well with the whole cd/radio alarms now not many people have or sell these clocks. I’ve been refusing to go to the sex store and buy myself the one that had a picture of weed on it and i didnt want to buy the one at target that had kermit the frog either so all this time i’ve been living without a good alarm clock. but today - i got mine finally! i ordered it online and it came in today through the nasty rain storm outside to my doorstep. its a super man one :

Yes, a super man alarm clock. I can’t really seem to find a good place to buy these types of alarm clocks and most of the ones made are for ’show’ for little kids so they usually have all sorts of decorations on them and what not. It was between this one and Betty Boop. I think i should’ve got betty boop but it’s too late now. Well now i am very happy cause i have my alarm clock =) there was one that i saw that was plain, but it was a ‘giant’ clock - so it was also for ’show’ but not because of any decoration, because it was unusually huge for an alarm clock. lol

well besides that little happening today, I had my second day of summer school physics. Today was a little better, I had no trouble staying awake even though i woke up literally 15 minutes before i got to class. The material was thankfully stuff that I had seen before but that I didn’t really learn well enough plus it was from way back in high school so yeah. Then we went to lab and i realize that these two guys i’m with probably have no clue what they’re doing and not only that but they work SLOWLY. I don’t like working slowly. all of my lab partners i’ve had in any lab were always with me when i wanted to get out as soon as i could but these two like to take their time. so yeah i’m gonna read ahead in the lab and get things done much faster tomorrow.

okay besides that i figured since i don’t have a job (and none of the bastards that i applied to has called me back, ) i found this payperpost.com thing and i’m going to try that to get some gas money at least. The problem is you have to have some sort of rating or what not to be accepted to take up their jobs there. so i have to have a google and alexa ranking. first of all…i’ve heard of this alexa thing but i have no idea what the hell it is. and secondly - i dont really wanna use THIS blog (this is my e-baby, lol) to do it because itd be like spamming my own blog you know? but then i dont know, i guess if i have to..then i have to. lol. anyways so yeah i’m deciding between using a newly set up blog that i made yesterday (when i found that site last night) compared to just putting them all on here. If i start with a new blog i guess i’d have to get a bunch of links coming to it to boost the ratings first though and i don’t really know how long that takes. i just checked this blog here and it says i have a google of 5 and alexa of 0 so i dont know if it would really help much if i linked to the new blog from this blog? well i’m guessing that since i hardly ever get hits here it might not even make much of a difference (except i might annoy myself). okay well..ill think about it later right now i’m going to eat and then do like a shit load of physics homework.

well a long ass time ago i changed hosts like 4 times in one month. that was when i had my free host though and then i was switching to paid -anyways i went with dreamhost. now i dont really know how their service has been throughout the entire time i’ve had them because frankly i dont do anything on here except log in a couple times a month and write a post so i wouldn’t notice any downtime. i dont have an email address stuff set up with any of my domains so that means i dont have mail problems and i also only use ftp like a few times before so i dont have any problems with that either. but lately ever since summer started and i got back on here trying to do a few things i’ve had ALL SORTS of problems.

like just the other day my website was completely unreachable, dreamhost.com was unreachable and when it finally was , i couldnt log into my account. so i basically freaked out for a minute but then i thought oh well its probably just down for some reason . i check back and its on again and i found out they have been having some problems? well i dont know what they are or what they mean on their blog posts but basically i dont give a shit what happens i expect my website to be online when i want it!!! i mean i only get on a very minimal amount of time, i shouldnt have to ever run into downtime!!! so that really really annoyed me. another thing is i’ve been working on some stuff and uploading things and then all the sudden yesterday i get these weird ‘internal service errors’ . i already emailed them and now i’m waiting for a response. i guess i’m just annoyed because as soon as i need to do anything i get these problems. but whenever im just doing nothing and like getting on for no reason its fine. and i’ve noticed that for the past like week the site has been on and off and on and off various random times of the day. anyways i just wnated to rant. now i’m done. UGH

so earlier i ran into an article that came up about how facebook and myspace are used by predators to stalk kids. even though at the very beginning of all this ‘internet’ stuff there was LOTS of news almost every night about kids being lured out and molested, kidnapped, etc - it still happens now but its not news worthy anymore to where they would report or watch out for more cases like that. i’m sure it still happens though. anyways i just wanted to note that after seeing something i saw today that facebook is a VERY good stalking tool if you were trying to find someone.

first thing is you can find people through other people. if you were looking for someone you saw hanging out with person A, you can find person A, then search through their friends and then find the person you were looking for. from that you already know what school and what that person’s name is. you can have privacy settings now, but seriously if someone knows what school you went to, they could just find more school related resources outside of facebook.

second thing is people put their real PHONE NUMBERS on there. yes, phone numbers. i dont have mine on there but a lot of people do. with a phone number you can pinpoint at least a city that the person is in and even an address in some cases.

then another thing is what i saw today - i’ve seen this a few times before but i didnt really think about it this way until today cause of that article i saw. anyways basically say someone you know(or that i know , hehe lol) drops their cell phone in the water while having a party on their yacht. lets not talk about how that couldve happened but anyways so then they get on facebook, which is where they go on to keep in touch with people online. and they start a group that is PUBLIC and invite everyone on their list of friends to join so that they can go and see the message and leave their cell phone numbers so it can be entered into a new phone. granted some people email the message privately, but MANY people just join the group and then post the number on the wall. a lot of these groups are public, so that means i can go on there and now i know the personal cell phone numbers of lots of people even if they dont know who i am. another thing is since this is connected to schools (at least most of it is) a lot of people use their real name or their real name is in their email address that can be displayed. so now i know your real name, the school you go to, who youre friends with, and your cell phone number so i can call you while breathing heavy.

and since facebook now lets people who arent in any registered schools sign up, basically that just opens up the door for more crazies to join in. both facebook and myspace have ‘privacy’ controls now, but seriously even if i cant see your profile i already know what you look like and what school you go to. and the size of a school is not even the size of a pin on a map so it really narrows down the area.

annddddddd the whole point of this - is to say that today i put my profile as private on facebook =) even though it was already pretty private but now i made it even more private. facebook is probably for more ‘older kids’ though while myspace is like …anyone who can get on the computer. facebook is like upperclassmen from high schools and college students, which i guess would be less appealing to peds and crazy pyscho child molestors but it is basically PERFECT for finding anyone in the right age bracket and is where more people put up more ‘real/true’ information on their profiles and use ‘real pictures’ of themselves.

well last night she was. we were teaching ‘heel’ where they walk next to you and she couldnt do it correctly because she kept trying to chase the other dogs. and then we tried fetch and she went to the thing i threw but just looked at it and didnt pick it up or bring it back at all. so yeah i felt like one of those parents they call in to discuss the child’s ‘poor progress’. so now this whole week im gonna be trying to train her everyday and stuff. after im done turning in my lab report and studying im even gonna make a check list of things to go over everyday. the only good thing is shes not the only one having problems but it still bites. this morning i made an appointment for her to get her little eye checked again, hopefully that problem should be going away soon and i wont have to worry about it anymore.

other than that i havent been doing much else lately besides studying and reading a whole crap load. right now im just taking a 5 minute break before going to the other lab to print out some stuff to turn in. oh and remember my idea for a website? yeah im gonna try to finish that (i know i’ve said this like…one zillion times. but i mean it this time). but i probably wont start working on it again till the week after next weekwhen i have my spring break so i have more time to do things with it again.

today this girl that i didnt know asked me if she can photocopy some pages off my book. and i was like….who are you. well i decided it wouldnt hurt me and i was going to the same building anyways so i went ahead and let her. and then she BENT TWO PAGES. YES. BENT THEN. the EDGES are BENT. on TWO pages. its like i cant even freakin be nice to people cause they screw things up for me. so that was very frustrating because i really hate messing up my books and i like to keep them in basically new condition. the only one i’ve not been mad at for doing something to my books is arisu (she tried to bite off a few corners). okay well i gotta go now so i can finish all my stuff in time and turn it in before the place closes. later.

well everyday i go to school in the morning and i listen to the radio.  im not really the type to switch around one million times just because a few commercials come on so a lot of times i just listen through the commercials and keep driving on to school.  anyways every morning there is this stupid commercial about lasik eye surgery.  and so this couple comes on and theyre talking about how they called a lot of doctors but the price was just too high for them to afford.  (obviously this commercial is for a company that says they can offer surgery with payment plans and lower prices)  so then the person is like “we just want quality service without having to pay a premium price”  why dont they just do it themselves then, FOR FREE!

other than  being mad at that commercial all day i have just been learning the stuff that i needed to know last night, that now, is too late to know about. but oh well cause i still have to take the final exam and i’ll need to know it then. so i dont think i did too well last night but i think i can do good on the final exam. the only thing is the final exam will consists of two parts, the part that i will sure to do well on because its a test made by my professor and we know what topics and how the questions will be asked (even though it will still be difficult).  but the second part is this national ACS test thing.  its multiple choice and will count as about 50% of my final exam grade, which is 25% of my total final grade that goes onto my transcript.  now whats bad about this?  well besides the fact that there is only one thing that lets us know ANYTHING about what the stupid test is about is this little study guide that we have to buy for 24 dollars, theres also the whole thing about not having those available for us to purchase until just recently, which is about 2 weeks before the final exam.  2 weeks is like nothing when learning this stuff.  granted its supposed to cover what we’ve covered in class, but really though, taking an exam you know nothing about ?  thats a big risk especially at 25% of your final grade. then what REALLY ticks me off besides the time crunch is that even though my teacher suggests that we buy the book to review and prepare for that portion of the test, he also notes that there are only 20 copies available for the 100+ students class and THEN he says that hes NEVER SEEN THE BOOK BEFORE.  uhhhhh…..WHY are you recommending a study guide that you’ve never looked inside before??  it just doenst make sense to me at all but then again, it doesnt have to because its a fact no matter how much i try to make sense out of it.

well i am really really excited about my project right now because its slowly coming together a lot of the stuff i had was kind of disorganized and finally i put it all together and made sure it was all organized to make things easier on myself while still working on it.  i know i said i would hve this done by august…but yeah.  anyways it will be done some time, but probably not soon.  but like…soon enough. lol.  its just hard to do all this crap all the time.  sometimes i think about putting out money and making someone else do it, but then with seeing all the jerk offs and all the scams out there its hard to see how i can trust.  then if i look into the phone book i dont really know what to look under either.  and i dont feel like driving to some far away office just to get some website built that i can VERY slowly do myself.  alright well i am going to bed now to sleep and then wake up and eat cereal.

finally moved again. this time was the worst time.  i have moved to dreamhost and while the hosting is working things are different in here than in other hosting places i’ve been with.  i cant find a way to upload stuff using the web browser, i gotta use ftp. which just confused the hell outta me at first.  then i had to set up my database here, and their control panel is so annoying.  it doesnt letyou go into phpmyadmin until after you have to create a databse using their little form first.  so you cant create databases in phpmyadmin, you gotta do it in their form or else theres not even a link to phpmyadmin at all.  and you also cant create users without creating a database, after you create that user, THEN you can go find the database list , and then find the users allowed, and then edit their permissions.  also the mysql management is under this section in their control panel called ‘Goodies’.  ..what the HELL is “goodies”??  databases are not goodies, they are databases.  i think dreamhost took their little ‘dream’ theme a bit too far. 

 after some frustrations i was finally able to import my database information into here.  and for some reason i finally decided to work on my css and make the links appear the correct color in IE.  apparently it was working just because i had some code right before the a attribute and it was in comments? i dont know what was wrong, i didnt know what that was either so i just deleted it and now its working fine.  so now my site looks much less ugly in the obvious way in IE as it did before with all the links being blue.  this took like 5 seconds once i actually sat down and decided to fix it.  then i tried to fix the thing where the title of the post is overlapping the time and date on the front pages in IE, but then some crazy stuff happened.  and now…there are thees little diamond shapes (in FF) and boxes (in IE) followed by  question mark every time i try to type two spaces in a row.  why did this happen? i dont know.  *sigh*

hopefully i wont have to move hosts again.  but i have some other ones listed in mind incase i do need to move.  with all this stuff lately the only good thing is that each time i move it takes less time cause im so used to the process now. 

i figured id do an update, again i am pretty much done with the actual website, just adding mostly content right now. but i keep wanting to add this or that and a bunch of little things so that is prolonging the time being spend on the website.Â? then occasionally i find out that something isnt working how i want it to so then yeah that takes some time too.Â? i’m thinking after this tuesday ill be able to work much more on it because i wont have another exam for a while. but until then, ill still be studying for exams.

hopefully tomorrow ill be able to wake up early and study and go to the library in the morning.Â? i dont like this whole ‘being cold’ thing going on outside because i have no winter clothes yet so i am not really ready for it.Â? and its not cold enough to wear a giant jacket but its not hot enough to wear a tank top anymore.Â? so i dont know what to do.

well a while back i bought this giant roll of paper to work my history time line on but then today i realized that it was total crap.Â? well the quality of the paper just isnt all that great at all, i need thick quality white paper, not thin paper that i can see through.Â? so now i’ve gotta go look for another roll of paper.Â? but this one i think ill use for something else then.Â? im gonna have to use it for a lot of something elses though because its a 24 in wide by 75 ft long roll of paper…

just moved over to site5 hosting. hopefully things go smoothly because i am lazy to move again ( i guess its really not a big deal, but being on dial up, doing anything online more than once seems pretty annoying to me).Â? but if things keep getting me frustrated i will probably move pretty soon so i have been looking around for alternatives yesterday and today to see where i can go to in case id like to move.Â? well thats all for now, more later.

Well today i had my lab mid term.Â? it was a piece of cake.Â? a piece of cake that was expired. i didn’t do very well but theres pretty much nothing i can do about it now.Â? tomorrow i have my history exam and my biochemistry exam.Â? i think i will do fine but then again what do i know.

so the other day im talking to my mom and she was telling me how her friends have kids who are in college and also trying to get into med school.Â? she said that they are always studying, stressing all the time and working really hard.Â? and then she sees me, and she said she doesnt see that i’m working very hard, or studying much at all, and that i don’t even seem worried or stressed like they do.Â? and im thinking…well thats because i know how to breathe and eat and sleep normally.Â? Not that i don’t work hard or study, but i just do it differently thanÂ? most people.Â? and i also do other things and work on stuff that is unrelated to school because i have interests outside of my textbook.Â? basically any time that they see me doing something unrelated to science they start asking questions.Â? i’m practicing piano - “Why are you playing piano?Â? you should study…when are you taking the mcat?”.Â? i’m reading a book - “why are you reading that book? is it for class?Â? no?Â? ….when are you taking the mcat?”.Â? im online “why are you online?Â? why do you always chat?Â? ….when are you taking the mcat?”Â? PLEASE STOP MENTIONING THE MCAT!Â? I guess they are just frustrated but still.Â? Because you know how parents do that thing where they sort of probe around stuff trying to make you feel like you have to prove something to them?Â? like how theyll casually say “ohh..so and so’s daughter just got accepted to med school, shes this and that and this that and she can also make a pound cake from scratch, etc”Â? yeah.Â? i dont really care.Â? and i think my parents have very slowly started to understand that the ‘you should prove yourself’ tactic doesnt really work because i could care less what people think and what other people are doing.Â? and its very frustrating sometimes because a lot of times i personally know ’so and so’, and what i hear their parents tell my parents about them is sometimes just a blatant lie.Â? all this talk about 4.0 when they really have a 2.5, and how theyve taken this test and that test already but OF COURSE they never mention the score their precious and smart son/daughter made on the exam.Â? its like theyre trying to show off cause their kid is ‘ahead’ of people just because they took the stupid thing.

alright.Â? i am done whining like a baby and being a young person who doesn’t really have a clue but thinks they do.Â? i got my book today from the library so i will be working on that this weekend and hoping to also finish up some certain tasks with my website.Â? also i should probably make this site look better in IE too because its hideous and i can’t stand it.Â? granted i’m the only who comes here anyways but yeah.Â? it still bothers me.

well i am taking a break right now from reading history stuff and so i guess ill write in here a little.Â? well lately i have come up with a new idea that can replace my old site idea.Â? but only problem is, i dont wanna give up on the old one, AND its halfway there already.Â? so what im thinking is, ill just have to work on both of them at the same time, but the new idea will probably have to take a slower pace since i really wanna get the other one done too.Â?

besides that, today i have many tasks to do and i am already very tired and worn out from yesterday’s long day.Â? after parking INCREDIBLY far from the rest of society, i walked to the library, then to the student center, then to a student lounge, then to class where i had to stand for 6 hours and look at very tiny white crystals in the lab, and then walk all the way back to where i parked.Â? i have no done that much walking in a long time, especially since usually when i bring my laptop i plan to sit still in one place for a while.Â? which i didnt do yesterday and i wanted to really just sit down and do nothing after i got so tired.Â? and right now, i wanna go home so bad but i still hav class and then igotta go listen to some presentation thing later for my professor.Â? welli dont have to, but i get extra points if i do and i want some extra points so yeah.Â?

so i am looking online lately , i usually go to sitepoint and browse in the php, and beginners area.Â? but anyways i then realize today that the information on there is all so…disorganized.Â? now you cant really do much about it since the information just comes as people wanna post it to the forums.Â? but the information threads are just massive amounts of stuff and its all just so messy.Â? sure, there are some with little table of contents but even that isnt really all that directive.Â? now thankfully the area that i browse normally doesnt have too many people who would make me mad.Â? which happens a lot when i visit those ‘woe is me’ type threads and probably 4/5 threads in the education section.Â? so i notice this thing about how there are too many meaningless threads in the place.Â? granted i finally saw it once everyone was done talking about it, but oh well.Â? i do thing there are tooooo many crappy game things.Â? its like ‘what is the word you are think of rightttttt….NOW!’. i mean..what?Â? its like people have nothing to talk about in there.Â? which is fine with me if theyre just boring like that.Â? but it does make me not wanna really visit there as often anymore.Â? sure, its just the internet.Â? but even online, i dont really be affiliated with people who cant even think past the first words that randomly come into their head.Â? and also i’ve noticed an increase in high schoolers who are trying to go into this whole ‘career’ of web development and what nots.Â? trying to get way ahead of themselves studying this and that and learning a whole bunch of stuff ahead of time.Â? granted some people i know can do a zillion things all at once (and i have met a few of these people and they are great and amazing) but most of the time i find that people who are really really good at something because theyve done it all their life, have the hardest damn time communicating with other people about it.Â? its like they dont even know how to socialize correctly.Â? also they lack basic knowledge in everything else except that one subject.Â? now i think part of the problem is because some of these people think they are just so high and mighty and too good to help other people.Â? some people arejust like that. they think they have it all and they dont wanna share it.Â? when you ask them questions they give you some shit that they know you wont understand to discourage you from asking them more. if you dont wanna help then just say so that way no one has to waste their time.Â? then they act like ‘beginners’ questions are more like common sense and youre an idiot for not knowing.Â? but when you ask them what is 1+1 they have to go find their calculator because they are actually just a big file cabinet of memorized solutions to common problems in their ‘field’ or ‘topic/subject’ that they are oh soooo good at, when really its just because they have guessed and checked that so many times that they have it engraved on the back of their head.Â?
