Rogue Idea

Well my MCAT is in ONE more month from now!  That means I’ve got 30 days left to really study and try to not screw this up =(

Lately my studying has been going a lot better than the beginning of this summer so I’m happy about that but I still need to do a lot and try to survive these last 30 days of studying before my big test.  I REALLY do not want to take this test again, ever – so that is kind of my motivator right now.  So besides studying my friend is coming back home in a few weeks so hopefully I will feel comfortable enough with my progress to go out then.

I’ve been pretty stressed lately about my whole financial situation.  Got too many bills to pay and not enough money.  Not that I can’t ask my parents but I’m really trying to do that as my very last resort.  I can’t wait to get rid of my Chase cards.  They are the worse interest rate and highest minimum payment.  I’ve been doing okay with paying  alittle more than minimum each time but I’ve still got quite a bit to go.  Needless to say after my MCAT I will be job searching like crazy.  I am still doing quite a bit of ‘career’ searching so I am debating whether or not to take some extra classes this fall to qualify to apply for more graduate level schools.  *sigh*

Okay I know I’ve tried this before and I failed miserably. But I am going to try to make a new study schedule and STICK to it. I’ve been trying to get up earlier too which hasn’t been working as well as I would like yet.

so my plan is to wake up early and either go out to study or stay at home and study. I’m not sure which one to go with yet. being ‘out’ is a distraction by itself for me but being at home also has some distractions too . one being hte computer.
for some reason i cannot stand facing into a corner if there is something infront of me. i can have the computer off but it bothers me that i have no view. i know im being picky but its just something i hate. i’m going to try to study at home though, i borrowed some ear plugs from frank. i wish i could go out and try that first but i am out of money so i’m trying to save my gas tank for when i really need it.

I’m not really the type to go out and do stuff on my own.  It sucks going places alone and I think most people would agree.  Frank and I have been planning to go bike riding and be more active a lot lately and it has been working ‘okay’ so far.  We have at least been on our bikes quite a few times already and I’m really happy with that.  BUT I don’t think it’s enough.  I want to go out and play some tennis or something with him but he doesn’t want to because its ‘too hot’.  The only problem with that is that its ALWAYS ‘too hot’ for him.  I have suggested to go at night and he turns me down then too even though night time is the coolest time to play and plenty of courts around here have the lights on at night.

Even when I suggest to go bike riding he doesn’t want to unless the weather is almost perfect AND he is in the mood to.  I thought exercising was supposed to be about setting good habits, not doing it only when you felt like it.  I know I’m being kind of harsh on myself and him too about this but I’m trying to get in shape and its frustrating when I can’t go out and do stuff everyday and then we end up only doing something active like MAYBE twice a week.  I’m not going to blame Frankie but I gues I am just realizing that I need to get over my issue with going out on my own to do stuff.  I like being with him and having him there to help me but it’s really annoying the hell out of me to not be able to do stuff just cause I don’t wanna do it alone.  I wish I had some gym equipment at my house or something.  I kind of want to  just go outside and run or bike around but after hearing one of my friends talk ab out how she almost was kidnapped while running alone last month I don’t really feel all that great about doing that.

well today i am gonna clean up the house a bit and hopefully arisu doesn’t have an issue with that.  she has had two accidents after the new dyson has been used the last times so hopefully today she won’t do it again.

So here starts my first summer without school.  no current classes and no future classes pending yet!  It feels very relaxing but also stressful because now i have to pay off a butt load of loans lol.  I’m going to be researching and lookingup programs and grad schools to attend this summer and hopefully getting a job too to help pay off some bills.  other than that i’m going to be enjoying my time at home with little arisu =)  just wanted to check in here and i am glad to see there isnt a new wordpress update today =)

First of all I’m glad that I don’t have to update my wordpress before writing this since I’m really not in the mood to.   Lately I have decided that I want my yard to match the other neighbors’ yards because mine is full of weeds and theirs isn’t.   Secondly I wanted to make the backyard nice so Arisu and Eos could play in the back and also to have a place to go hang out outside when the weather is nice.  Everytime I want to do anything outside – I can’t because we don’t even have a freakin chair out there and the whole yard is full of weeds.

So a few weeks ago during spreak break I have been pulling TONS of weeds and put down weed and feed and also clean up my dead looking banana trees and bought three more trees that are now planted in the front and back yard.  I also decided that i wanted to plant something nice along the fence between me and my neighbor who has two very unruly and crazy dogs that bark like mad when anyone is around.  I decided on bamboo.  From what I read bamboo shoots only once a year and that time is normally now.  So I searched for a bit and finally found a place to get my bamboo and got some very small ones for cheap but there is enough to kind of spread out along the fence area.  So the other thing I need is a barrier so that the bamboo doesn’t start sprouting up every where later on.  There were no places I could find in the city that was selling it.  So I had to go online and order it.

Once I realized that I wanted to put in my bamboo asap I found a website that says ‘Ships within 48 hours’ on their bamboo root barrier.  This place is called BERKEY SUPPLY and sells landscaping stuff like root barriers, pond supplies and lighting.  The next day after ordering I had an employee call me to clarify some stuff on my order and then he told me he would be getting my order shipped out “TODAY” and it will arive in about four days.

Three days later (business days) I checked my order status expecting to see a ups tracking on my account there but it said that my order had not been shipped yet?  So now my bamboo have been in pots for 5 days at that point and missing time they could be spending strengthening their roots for shoots this Spring.  So I e-mailed them to see if maybe they just didn’t update their website yet.  I found out they had not shipped it yet due to ‘manufacturer delay’ and that will will be shipped ‘tomorrow’ (meaning 5 days after my order and 1 day after it was supposed to arrive).  The barrier was then supposed to arrive TODAY.  I sign into UPS’s tracking system today and see that my delivery has been DELAYED and is rescheduled to ship tomorrow.  It was supposed to be here by now but didn’t even leave the nearest big city until 2 hours ago.

So first of all I will be planning much more long term when doing yard work that involves shipping anything to be safer next time.  Secondly, I won’t be ordering from Berkey Supply or recommending them to anyone because they were so unprofessional in getting my order to me.  The reason I ordered from them is because it said the item was IN STOCK and SHIPS WITHIN 48 HOURS.  It seems they don’t have an issue putting blatant lies on their website though so that people waste time waiting for things that aren’t coming.  Second thing that ticks me off is that I even had the guy CALL ME and talk to me saying he would be shipping it out today.  Uhhhh…why didn’t he check the stock and make sure before he said that??  Then, when they didn’t ship it out, they didn’t bother emailing or calling me to let me know so that I was expecting it to come in on time in 4 days.  They also didn’t apologize for the delay and gave me a ‘two liner’ email saying it would be shipped soon and it was the manufacturer’s delay.

After I finally got the UPS tracking number I saw that it was going to take one week to get to me.  So wait a minute the guy calls me before saying it would arrive in 4 days, but now they send it 5 days later and it is going to take 7 days to get to me?

Needless to say I am completely out of patience and pretty pissed at how shitty their service was getting my product to me.  It better come in tomorrow and I will be making sure that I NEVER order from Berkey Supply again!  Most business give ’safe estimates’ on times and dates which I would rather have. than be blatantly lied to and have to waste my time.  Instead I thought I was counting on a reliable business because of how prompt they were in SAYING they would ship my product.  Now I’ve waited for 2 weeks (if it comes tomorrow) for something that should’ve arrived 10 days ago.

Berkey Supply is TERRIBLE!

Well I heard about this couch to 5k program from a forum i’m on and so i decided i’m going to try it.  i made a very super sad attempt at it today and it totally kicked my ass.  i am completely out of shape and didnt even last 10 minutes (supposed to be 25-30 minutes per work out in this program).  So yeah I will probably stuck on being on ‘week 1′ stuff for quite a while until i can do it without feeling like killing myself.  beside that it was starting to rain and my ears were getting too cold to stay out while still feeling comfortable.  I was with frankie and arisu and they both did way better than me, lol.  so i have to a lot to work on.

speaking of arisu she has been much better lately about guarding her food and toys.  I’ve taught her ‘drop it’ recently and so she has learned to drop things.  I had to slowly work up from toys to her bones and food and some things she tries to get like pens and stuff she shouldnt be playing with.  that along with feeding her by hand every once in a while has made her a lot less crazy about guarding her food and things.  shes also more easily able to focus back on me and not be so ‘obsessed’ with her current thing she is watching/guarding.  today she was guarding her bowl of food and i asked her to go in her crate and she did!  shes also dropped bones for me (that she wouldve attacked anyone for in the past) and other things that i really didnt think would be easy for her to give up already.  so that is progressing really well!

frankie gave me a tripod for my camera for valentines day so I am going to try to make some little videos of her doing stuff or learning new stuff from now on =)

Well when I got this domain it was on sale at Yahoo for 3 dollars a year. I got it for a few years and now they said they want to automatically renew my domain subscription for like i dont know 2x.xx dollars a year. And also notified me of the price change to come this summer that will bring the price of domain at yahoo to about 35 dollars a year. Apparently when you get a domain from them NOW, you will pay 9.xx, so 10 dollars a year per domain for up to 5 years. After that time expires, you will be automatically billed (automatic, for your ‘convenience’) at the regular rate of 34.95 a year per domain). Crazy, I know.

So I had to transfer my domain over to namecheap which is good because now they are all together and I dont have to keep up with different accounts. The transfer took about 3-4 days though and thankfully it went through correctly cause I don’t want to wait till my domain expires at yahoo and then they would bill me for another year or something.

Besides starting my last semester of undergraduate school (yay!) Nothing else has really been going on. My dad wants to frame a bunch of old pictures he has and after lots of looking around I decided I was just gonna do it myself. the custom services for cutting multi openings in mats were either too expensive or okay priced – but required bulk orders. So once I’m done with that I will post some pictures of all the hard work I did!

Okay well I kind of have a busy week this week I have two tests coming up and I also want to get started on my Mcat stuff again since I have been kind of ignoring that lately.

A few days ago a friend told me about how houses in her neighborhood were being burglarized regularly like clock work.  This got me thinking about some alarm/home monitoring systems again.  I had been keeping this idea in the back of my head but I never had the money to do it or really look into it.  Well I found a website that can sell a GE Home Security System and with these systems you can monitor your house with wireless camera and motion detectors for only about 30-40 dollars a month. It comes with glass break detectors too and a wireless remote in some packages. The GE Alarm System that is available will alert you that someone has set off the alarm even if you are not home so you know right away something has happened at home. The systems also can come with a lot of other features like wireless control over temperature, lighting or appliances in the home that you can access to turn on or off wirelessly through a remote. So anyways I think I’ll be looking more into this GE Home Security stuff later to see if I want to talk my parents into it. I doubt it though with things being pretty rough financially around here but then again, my dad’s been wanting some security stuff around the house too.

well , i havent written in here in a while now since i’ve been caught up with other stuff going on lately but everytime i come to post i have to do a wp update again because they do an update every other month it seems like – probably even more frequent than that.  Frank moved down here a little more than a month ago and so i’ve pretty much been spending almost every day with him since then mostly just doing random stuff but having a lot of fun.  of course we’re starting to return back to normal slowly now and stop acting ilke we’re in ‘vacation’ mode.  arisu really loves frank being here too and so we’ve been having a lot of fun together and even brought arisu to a dog park a few times lately.

so i decided ill do a little bit of job hunting and see what i can get since this semester is over and i pretty much have nothing to do anymore after the next two weeks.  i was still kind of thinking if i want to or not but i figured now would be a good time to put some more stuff on my resume so when i graduate i can actually have some sort of small tiny chance of getting a job.  okay well thats all for now, i know this is short but theres just too much stuff to update on so i wont lol .

Since Frank has moved here now I am trying to look for some options and different places to get some furniture at good prices to save money. He has some settlement payments coming in from a lawsuit that his dad won a long time ago so I wanted to see if there was any way we could get all that money now instead of in long term payments. Anyways I found this website that lets you sell annuities or other similar things like lottery future payments to get the money immediately so you can use it right away.

I’m thinking I’ll tell him to look it up later and see if he can get a free quote and to know how much that would cost since the money would really help him out until he can get a job here. That way he can sell annuity on this set of payments and another one that he also gets from something his dad had before too. It says that it would take around 45 to 90 days to be approved then another 5-10 days to get the money but that would probably still be better than waiting for the payments later on.
