Dish Network Deal? Thinking of Switching my Tv service…
Well ever since I got into this whole downloading thing I thought about upgrading my internet so I can download stuff faster. My friend said he has downloads of like 700kb/s + or something like that, mine is only around 150 right now. The only way to convince my parents to double the internet money would be to download stuff they want. I’ve been thinking about how I’m going to do that and haven’t had much luck.
I’ve been considering to get rid of my cable stuff and go to satellite and I saw this “Dish Network” thing that has some deals going on. The best part I like is actually the free room installs because right now I don’t have any cable or tv in my room at all, not even basic channels. I basically just watch dvds all day on rerun because I can’t access regular tv in my room. I don’t really feel like buying a mega long cable to get cable from the next room into mine either. Hopefully they’ll still have this dish tv deal by the time I decide to do anything about it.
I know ‘every’ company is going to have their own deals and stuff but actually this one has stuff that I actually think is ‘useful’. You get free HD programming too so I wanna see what thats like (its only for 6 months but its free and you can just cancel it). I watched some HD stuff at Frank’s house and it was REALLY good quality. You get other stuff like free room installs and free activations too but I sort of consider that to be something I’d expect already.
One downfall (well, for me, personally) is that theres no Tennis Channel included except in their Dish Network Satellite Everything Pak, which has over 315 channels. Besides that one package though I’d probably have to get the Top 100 thing they have to include all the stuff I normally watch. And the best part is - I’d actually be able to watch it since I’d be able to get it in my room. It’s only 29.99 a month so maybe I’d be able to talk my parents into it. I’m pretty sure we’re paying a lot more than that right now for our Tv stuff but I’ll have to ask. Anyways, I’m making a note on this so I’ll remember to do something about it later.

1. You need an HDTV to watch HDTV, standard (4:3) TV will just add bars to the top and bottom. The pull for HDTV is the fact that it’s 720P or 1080P, bascially it means you get more pixels which makes for a crisper, clearer picture. This effect is lost on standard-def TVs because they don’t have the pixels to display. It would be similar to taking a 20megapixel picture and resizing it to 640×480.
2. Make sure that it’s $29.99 a month for ever and not just for the first x months. Companies like to keep that in really small print.
Dish got rid of the $10 off on August 14th. The $29.99 is the regular price for their 100 channel package. The Free 39 channels of DishHD is for 6 months. Oh yeah, local channels are $5 more so you bill will be around $37 with tax. You do get a free dr which is cool.
