Rogue Idea

I should be studying but I’m not. Mostly because I don’t have any of my stuff with me but we all know I planned that out so I could use it as an excuse. Anyways I just got out of biochemistry lab early so I’m in the computer lab in the library reading about random crap. Well, I joined a carnival thing for my other experiment blog and it hasn’t really seemed to bring in any traffic at all. I think the problem is the carnival doesn’t have lots of readers itself. Sooooo…I will try again when I see that a more popular blog is hosting a carnival that I can join in. Other than that I have started to get some hits in from stumble which is good because I stumbled my own article like a long ass time ago and now finally someone has noticed it. And the good thing is its more than just one someone, its a few of them. Seems like everyday theres like an increase in the # from stumble (even if its just a small increase of 1 - 2).

Um, I’m working on a layout for the site right now. Since I got someone to do it but of course they got busy and it sort of fell through. Anyways I have some ideas so I will be working on that this weekend. Yesterday I did a few sketches while I was in Plant Anatomy instead of paying attention to our old and boring teacher teach about an old and boring subject. Yesterday I also joined Coogs Crew yestrday which is this student organization that supports athletics and goes to the games and stuff. Basically I joined cause I like to go to games but all of my boring anti social anti sport anti school spirit Asian friends don’t like to go to sports or any other type of school thing going on. They only go to pizza socials that are directly involved in pre medical student organizations or free mcat administrations. Exciting, I know. So, I’m very excited because now I can go to games with a bunch of strangers - but at least these people ‘want’ us to win and don’t have that ‘we suck’ attitude that floats around UH a lot. Hm what else did I do. Oh yeah I had to go and search for a gift to get Gordon, I was thinking something about photography but I don’t really have a clue about what he has or what type of sub topic under that he likes. Basically he’s into cars, photography, and audio. And I don’t know anything about any of those things so yeah…I’ll have to figure something about for that soon. I alsooooo…bought my LAST book for this semester. Thank god. I had to buy so many books for this semester I was really surprised. My crappy Plant Anatomy packet costs 45 dollars in cash yesterday. The stupid place is like the crappiest place I’ve ever seen - I can’t believe they would even run a business there. The place is dirty and weird smelling and really small and messy. There were papers everywhere. Apparently they also offer a tutoring service where they tutor classes - their motto is ‘Prefer an A?’ or something like that. Right, I wouldn’t go there, but I’m guessing some desperate crazy people do go there to get access to their crappy old exams and notes they probably have which most professors are already making available.

Hm besides that I have been trying to read stuff to work on my blog with, I think I will try to write something that is unique (unique as in I wrote it, not the idea, lol) and then try to offer it as sort of a thing that my site has. Sort of like those free e-books I see links to everywhere. Hopefully that will work out but I have been brain storming about what topic to write about since my blog is still so general right now. I’m trying to think of what type of users/people I want to pull in and then try to write something based on that. Still the biggest thing pulling in visitors is the Orange Dream Machine Recipe !  That seems to be slowly changing to the type at home review which is getting visitors from some sort of work at home forum and also stumble.  I just signed up the blog to linkworth.com so hopefully some crazy person will want to give me money and put an ad on my site, lol.  But once I get my new layout it will be easier to get advertisers since I’ll have a good place for them.

Hm well I really don’t wanna go to my genetics class right now but I guess I’ll go anyways.  Tomorrow I’m gonna be studying and going to the gym with maggie later in the day.  I might work on some of the stuff I just talked about tomorrow too.  Either way, hopefully it will turn out to be a productive day!

Well ever since I got into this whole downloading thing I thought about upgrading my internet so I can download stuff faster. My friend said he has downloads of like 700kb/s + or something like that, mine is only around 150 right now. The only way to convince my parents to double the internet money would be to download stuff they want. I’ve been thinking about how I’m going to do that and haven’t had much luck.

I’ve been considering to get rid of my cable stuff and go to satellite and I saw this “Dish Network” thing that has some deals going on. The best part I like is actually the free room installs because right now I don’t have any cable or tv in my room at all, not even basic channels. I basically just watch dvds all day on rerun because I can’t access regular tv in my room. I don’t really feel like buying a mega long cable to get cable from the next room into mine either. Hopefully they’ll still have this dish tv deal by the time I decide to do anything about it.

I know ‘every’ company is going to have their own deals and stuff but actually this one has stuff that I actually think is ‘useful’. You get free HD programming too so I wanna see what thats like (its only for 6 months but its free and you can just cancel it). I watched some HD stuff at Frank’s house and it was REALLY good quality. You get other stuff like free room installs and free activations too but I sort of consider that to be something I’d expect already.

One downfall (well, for me, personally) is that theres no Tennis Channel included except in their Dish Network Satellite Everything Pak, which has over 315 channels. Besides that one package though I’d probably have to get the Top 100 thing they have to include all the stuff I normally watch. And the best part is - I’d actually be able to watch it since I’d be able to get it in my room. It’s only 29.99 a month so maybe I’d be able to talk my parents into it. I’m pretty sure we’re paying a lot more than that right now for our Tv stuff but I’ll have to ask. Anyways, I’m making a note on this so I’ll remember to do something about it later.

yay!! Google analytics has updated my graph. First the scale was from 0-10, then 0-20, then 0-40, and now its 0-100!!! Yes, that means I have continued to steadily increase the amount of visitors to my site weekly. I will spend time this weekend to write stuff to post on there to drive more and more traffic. In the mean time, I am setting up another website that I think will drive traffic more easily and at a faster rate. I am trying to get more search engines to bring visitors to my site - it seems that people who go through search engines are more likely to click on ads than are people who come through referrals. The referrals has brought in a lot of traffic too especially from thoof.com. So…the next thing I will do is try to set a steady posting schedule to keep the blog looking active and encourage people to subscribe to the bookmark and come back to the site. I have a couple of ideas of things to do to bring a long term flow of traffic to the site but I will plan out the details and organize a plan of action for those on the weekend when I am writing another post for the site. So hopefully I will crank out some stuff this weekend to post so that I can bring in more traffic and continue till my graph has a scale reaching 200!!

Sooooo…Today I’m going to set a schedule for the week to follow and then get started by next week =)

So I am very happy about the little graph thing from google analytics, since the first week, the number of average unique visitors per day has been increasing steadily by 10 at a time. I know that may seem small to some people, but for me who didn’t really expect much, i’m pretty happy with those results! Other than that, my adsense ctr has been going up too, not 10% at a time lol, but like in little tiny tid bits at a time. Later I’ll probably go and try to write another post to keep the blog ‘active.’ Haven’t really put time into thinking about what to write about though. Oh, and since I think this blogging thing is going a litttttttle too slowly, I’ve decided to put up a website instead. Yep, I have an idea for it and am thinking of what domain to use. I will have to put things off till end of next week though to get started on it since I’ve got too many things going on already this coming week.

I took the MCAT on monday. I’m pretty sure I didn’t do so hot so yeah I’m planning to retake it in january and really prepare for it again this semester. I was just thinking about how to get an ongoing mcat study thing going on and then last night a friend asked me if I wanted to join hers. I have to talk to her next week but depending on what she has in mind I might join hers and set up my own thing too or I might just do whatever she has in mind. Anyways I had a whole plan out yesterday so we’ll just see what happens with her thing going on.

Okay other than that nothing else has been happening except I’ve just had my first two days of class. I think I like most of my classes so far. I probably like my entrepeneurship class the most right now because we will get to talk to multi billionaires =) but also because it seems really interesting and is a huge break away from all the science classes. My least favorite right now is probably Immunology but that might be because I haven’t had Plant Anatomy yet… lol. Okay well, I am going off now so I can meet some friends for lunch. Probably won’t be back till next week too.

of physics!! i”m very happy since theres only 3 more days of physics. even though these last three days will be hell since ineed to study a lot. and right after that i have 3 days to do a brief review for mcat on monday. and after monday i have school….*sigh* oh well at least physics will be over and this class has been a pain in my ass from day 1. we got a whole bunch of labs back today and thankfully i didnt have to resubmit anymore or else i would be really pissed. i might not even do them if he said i had to resubmit cause its such a pain in the ass. we’ve been doing so many labs and he returns like 5 of them (out of 10 that we’ve done so far) today, 3 days before the last day of class. which means people who have to resubmit, will have to work ontheir labs on top of preparing for two exams on thursday that basically will determine your overall grade. yeah….im glad thats not me.

well i’m sort of having a good and bad day. good thing is that they finally fixed a few things in my house around here now like the leaky sink and the toilet was replaced today. tomorrow they said theyre coming to do the outside stuff so yeah it will be very noisy i think. other good is of course what i just talked about - this is the last week of my summer school. oh and one more good thing is that i made over 20 dollars on adsense today apparently mondays are good since i guess people go back to work which means they actually just sit around and surf internet. thats my theory about why i get nothing on sundays and then much more on mondays

bad stuff includes i got bitched at by my stupid neighbor today. i’m too tired to rant about it here now since i already ranted to like 10 people already today. and of course more bad news is the mcat is in less than 7 days now, officially less than one week before i have to take it. i just hope i dont get something crazy like a 10 on it or something.

okay well im going to bed now so i can wakeup early tomorrow. goodnight

well. made some major decisions this week but i think i did what will help me in the end. i’ve decided not to apply to medical school until next year. this gives me one more year to take the mcat again (i know i’ll need to) and also to finish a minor for my degree without rushing like crazy. i guess i’m sort of relieved too because it gives me much more time to settle down and get everything ready. i dont feel like i have enough time to do the entire application process right now so yeah i decided to put it off.

besides that, i have a physics exam on wednesday. and next week is our last week already and we’re supposed to have 2 more tests after this wednesday, which i dont know how we’re gonna do that unless we have two exams in one day or back to back which would really suck.

today i went to the school to check out some of the payment plan stuff. apparently their ’system is very sensitive’ and will only let one student have one payment plan per one semester. and i was like…thats not being sensitive that makes sense. what’s stupid is that you can’t cancel the plan and get another one incase you got the wrong one or want to change your mind. basically the lady had to write down my sister’s info and then she said she was gonna ‘code it in’ so that she can use the plan she got without filling the requirements. i was like…wtf. why dont they just fix the damn system? its like are the people they hiring not even smart enough to put that option into their little online software crap? not only that but theyre so unorganized like they dont even have sign in sheet even though theres no line people just have to sit on this bench that goes along the window and then no one knows whos in line and whos not. how long would it take to get a piece of paper and put ’sign in’ on it. damn.

well i have oneeee good news today. and its that i made over 13 dollars now so far on adsense!!! lucky 13 =) .

well. i am pretty sure that i am not gonna score as high as i want, and therefore will have to take hte mcat again in january. but i still have 14 days left and i’m gona try to prepare as much as i can until i take it, so that even if i do bad, i already know what works and what doesn’t. so for the next few days, hopefully i will be reviewing lots of information and trying to get things done. =( wish me good luck
