Rogue Idea

Well last night I was having some trouble dealing with cookies and sessions and setting them up and what not. Well my php phrasebook doesnt explain much (obviously, since its only a phrasebook) but I needed a more step by step approach since never dealth with this kind of thing before. So i went to the schools library catalog search and it was finally working (it hasnt been for a little while for me now) and found out that the book that i want is available for students to log into and see as an online e-book version! Now this is exactly why I love our library, they have almost virtually everything you could possibly think of, and they probably keep getting thousands more every single year (i’ve actually seen carts with hundreds of new books coming in plenty of times). Plus i love that they have a big selection of the books online so i can see them from home. Now the part where im torn is that i’ve been wanting to buy this book since it helped me learn a lot about php and mysql but now i dont know if i reallywant to buy it since i can read it online any time i want to (before the problem was i cant check it out for very long so i wanted to have my own copy, plus they only had the 1st edition on hard copy and there was no 2nd edition). So not only is the book i want online, but its also the second edition which is even better. It would cost 18 dollars, so like a little over 20 dollars for tax and shipping if i was going to buy iit off amazon buutttttttt i just started getting back on my feet a tiny bit financially and i dont want to bring myself down into being dead broke so fast. I guess ill just use the online copy for a while and then if i still want it later i can always order it. *sigh*

Yesterday was my 3 years and 5 month anniversary with my Frankie! He is so handsome =)

While brainstorming about what to buy my friend Chau for her birthday I decided I could get her some nice martini glasses since I can’t exactly buy her a drink yet (she turned 21). Well while looking at some online I decided that I’m going to start my own glass collection. It’ll mostly be martini glasses so far but I’ll probably get some nice shot glasses and other types too. I also got two of the same kind I bought her so now I have two to begin with. Of course when I decided I was going to start my little collection I didn’t think about how expensive these were going to be. I mean 15 dollars for a cup isn’t exactly the greatest deal in the world but I guess they’re nice and I like them so oh well! And 15 dollars is about the cheapest martini glasses that I’ve seen around (and there aren’t a lot of them around that are that decent of a price). The one that I really really want is 80 dollars but I’ll have to save up a bit for it and get it later.

Tonight I went to Phat Ky which is on Wilcrest and 59 and almost an hour away from me (less on the way home since there was little to no traffic). Anyways the food was alright but I was a little dissapointed with the noodles since those I would consider an “easy” dish I sorta expected they would do better than that. I after eating, taking a lot of pictures, making kissing gestures at Vivian from the next table, letting Chau sit in my lap while being groped by Vivian and making WAY too many jokes about boobs we finally got the bill and took an extra 15 minutes to decide how to split it. They decided to go to a karaoke place afterward but i went home instead. As soon as I was close to my house Chau calls to tell me she didn’t go either so that sucks cause she didn’t get to eat her cake since they brought it there.

As for my little project well so far I’ve made some progress with the main template for the site and also the sign up page works and everything adds to the database correctly which is suprising. I think tomorrow I’m going to set up the databse for the content and also make some ‘fake’ content too so I can test on. I found Lipsum.com (I think thats the address I don’t remember exactly right now) which is this website that I’m gonna use to make some of my fake content (which will all be the same except different lengths and titles so I can tell if the content is what I want it to be or not. Besides that I haven’t gotten too much further cause I’ve also been reading for my biology practical on Monday. I think I’ll do okay but I haven’t really spent enough time looking at the slides so hopefully reading and looking at the pictures in the book will let me still do okay. Well I’m tired out now so I think I’ll go to bed and wake up early tomorrow.

Well since its well into summer time now I figured I better start doing some stuff or else I will have wasted another summer getting nothing done.Â? The first is my secret project that I’ve been sorta brainstorming and doing planning on but haven’t really started on it yet.Â? So I’m trying to get startedon things with that so I can get things done.Â? The second thing is I want to finish FrankandYvette.Â? Oh and I’m trying to finish learning Fur Elise.Â? And I also want to finish or at least get a big part of my physics book finished with too.Â? Okay there so thats four things to do this summer.Â? Too bad all four of them take a long time to finish.Â? Well hopefully not too long, but anyways I’m going to be working on those things from now on and I’m really excited about getting some of this stuff done.

Besides that nothing has reallybeen going on here lately.Â? Biology is going along pretty fast but I’m hardly studying much for it so its not exactly something I consider in the way of getting my other things done. Â? Today I overslept so now I’ve gotta go in tomorrow into open lab to see the slides before my test on Monday.Â? Well thats all for now, more later.

This morning I took my second Biology exam at San Jac and I think I did ok. The most annoying thing about her tests is that the answer can be anything you want it to be. Which means there are more ways to be wrong. For example you can have this :

Q: What is 4 x 8?

• A. 32
• B. 8 x 4
• C. 93
• D. A and B
• E. None of the above

Obviously this brings a lot of problem. pretend that D and E have different numbers. Well on her tests you would bubble in A and B since those are both the answer. But now she puts in D, which means do you bubble in D by itself, or do you bubble in A and B and D? Its confusing because you don’t know how the hell you’re supposed to be taking the test. Other times there will be only one answer and then sometimes there will be one answer, but that answer is saying that the answer is all the answers! The good thing is I don’t have another test till Monday.

In light of my giant list of things to do instead of just doing them in random order and by bits and pieces I’ve made this sort of “schedule” to help me along and get things done in an organized manner. This new weekly schedule has a lot of ‘downtime’ put in, that way when I’m doing stuff I’m not constantly thinking about the time crunch and I can be more productive. I’ve also put it so that I’m done working on stuff by 8 or 9 pm every night which is great because that means I have more time with Frank.

Yesterday I went out to eat with Linda and Jennifer so they gave me my gifts which is this cool metal character thing and a dry erase board! I guess if I have time later I’ll take pictures and post them. But for now I’ll go work on studying.

Two weeks after I requested for the Biology: Concepts & Connections textbook to be delivered from the UH Downtown Library to the UHCL Library it has finally arrived there yesterday. I went to pick it up this morning at UHCL and to my suprise the place is a park! Theres this creek where they put benches and swings around that you can sit and stuff. Its a pretty darn relaxing environment if you like nature and all that. The only down side is probably the humidity being trapped into the atmosphere there because of the trees. Everywhere you go you see signs that don’t look like signs, they look like the little direction pointers like if you were in camp park or a recreational park so you know where to drive to. Most different buildings have to be driven to unless you know your way around on foot. Well after being lost for a little while I find the library and to my suprise its pretty nice inside and they also have a more relaxing and social friendly atmosphere as compared to UH Main Campus which does have a lot of lounges, but they are more ‘clumped’ together into certain places. Its just a different environment and feeling there especially if you come from a campus like the Main where you see construction on every street. Anyways I finally got to borrow the biology book that i need for my biology class this summer. I don’t think its going to make much of a difference in my grade but having another resource on hand to review with won’t hurt me. I just hope that I won’t need it for when I take bio II because I might not be able to still have it with me for that long. I am REALLY happy with the book that they let me borrow though. Online it didn’t say that I would get the text CD with it, but its in the book that i got. Also it is in completely brand new condition and obviously hasn’t been used before. I kind of wnt to keep it because of how nice it is but I guess I can deal with not having another biology book laying around and collecting dust from my room.

On my way home I somehow got lost because I never go to the other side of I – 45 so I’m not really familiar with that area. In fact, everytime I go over there i get lost. Well too bad I didn’t have my camera with me because the area over there is kind of nice. Okay its not nice, but its different and I guess it was nice for me to get out and go somewhere else for once instead of being right here in my room all the time.

Today I have one task and that is to finish filling out my lab workbook!

Well I found out that we aren’t allowed to keep our tests but at least I got to see what I got wrong. Which I don’t know why I’m mentioning now since I didn’t look at the test anyways even when I had it. Every Monday-Thursday I wake and want to skip. Yes, its that bad. The class is so boring except tiny tid bits that we happen to get to discuss a little bit. Besides that sometimes I find myself completely zoned out in class and taking random notes that don’t make sense. The other day she was lecturing and I started to make a to-do list. I think the girl behind me sorta noticed cause usually I don’t write that much and plus she walked by while going to the bathroom and looked down at my desk top. Even though I usually hate lab classes, biology lab is much more relaxing than chemistry labs. They also have nice big benchtops that aren’t rusting and we get to sit in these really big rollie chairs too. Probably the most comfortable lab environment I’ve ever worked in. I guess the main frustrating thing is that most people in there don’t take a lot of science courses or haven’t in a long time and sometimes have a hard time understanding instructions. When I go into a lab class I really only have one goal in mind – to get back out as soon as possible. And with people asking all sorts of questions plus the teacher talking on and on and plus confused lab partners it makes things a little bit stress inducing because I have to remember to calm down and not speed off by myself and finish it all up since there are limited supplies.

I’m glad today is Friday but not because I’m going to lay around and do nothing but because i have a lot of things to do and since I don’t have to sit around in class daydreaming I can stay home and get things done today. Basically every summer I have a list of a few big things I want to get done and this summer I really want to carry these things out so I’m really trying to get these things done this time instead of finding more and more things to do and then end up doing a bunch of things I didn’t plan for.

Oh and I updated the About and Extras pages. I have more stuff to put on there but I haven’t gotten to it yet. I’m also thinking of changing the links on the bottom just a little bit but I’m not sure what exactly I want to do with it. Also I’m going to get it to display the name of the previous post next to the Previous Post link near the bottom but I’m gonna work on that later.

Well my schedule for the fall semester was PERFECT but of course that never lasts long. I’m still having classes tuesday and thursday but now i’ve added an Organic Chem Lab I to the list. Oh and I signed up for their little help class too which is only one hour a week so I guess I can deal with it. The real question is can I handle being in class for like 8 hours a day. No wait, I know I can handle it, I guess what I’m meaning to ask myself is how long can I go until I start wanting to skip a class or until I start sleeping in!

So this is my schedule so far, I have class from 8:30 a.m. till 4:00 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday. On Wednesday I have my 6 hour organic chem I lab, from 2:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. I know its gonna be a pain in my ass but then again I’ve stayed there later for more days in a row before every week so I think I’ll just get used to it. Plus I’ll probably finish early most of the time. Why am I taking Organic Chem I when I’ve already taken it? Well basically I thought I could let go and swallow that big ugly nasty C but yeah I just can’t let it go. So that’s why I’m stuck in the middle of this summer trying to register for extremely full classes right now, because earlier I thought oh well it’s okay but now I don’t want to leave it at that so yeah. I really really want the lab to be on Monday 12-6, 11:30-5:30, or 2:00-8:00 but the wednesday one was theonly one that was open so far so right now I’m taking whatever I can get. I’m gonna keep checking everyday though to hope that something opens up on Monday cause thats when I really want to take my lab class. I guess my schedule isn’t so bad now because I go to school Tuesday-Thursday and I have a four day weekend. If I get my lab on Monday I’ll have a three day weekend but I’ll have a good one day break in the midst of the crazyness during the week. Anyways some sucker is gonna change their mind about taking lab tomorrow and it’ll be too late! =) Oh and if I don’t get into an open Monday lab by the time school starts (which I’m sure I have a good chance if I just keep checking) then i’ll just show up on Monday anyways and ask them if they can add me when people don’t show up. Alright well I’m going to fill out some worksheets and run errands now. Hopefully today will end up being quite productive.

After a long two weeks I finally have my wordpress blog up! BOO-YAH to the loser who told me that I can’t put my comments on the index page cause I just did baby yeah!!! Seriously you’d think that the people who are the little wordpress support forum mods would know how to give a more helpful response than “It will not work as you want. Index is index, and single is single.” So I had to figure the thing out by myself. But I’m over it now. Oh by the way while I remember, this blog doesn’t look that great in IE at all but I’ll work on that whenever I feel like it.

On another note, I got a 102 on my first Biology exam! Now this just means that I had a good start so I will and still have to keep studying but the good thing is I feel like I have a good chance of getting out of taking the final exam which would be good because the fourth exam and final exam are back to back. And that would be terrible.

I’m really happy I finished this because when I tried to make my little chemistry blog that was a complete disaster but this one turned out much better (just the fact that its working and doesnt look completely terrible in at least one browser is a major accomplishment for me). Well it’s past 11 pm now so I think I’ll go to bed so that I can wake up early to recieve my 102 on a hard copy! (It was posted online thats how I already know the grade.)
